The Minister’s Minute – September 2022

Micah 7:8
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.
Commentary
Beginning of this verse could be misinterpreted as arrogance in that the people of Israel are directly speaking to their enemy stating not to get too excited before you know the final outcome. The old adage “don’t count your chickens before they hatch” comes to mind. The verse goes on to say when I fall. Note this isn’t fall into sin, but stumble or temporary lose my footing. When I fall, I shall arise. The people of Israel knew who were on their side and could say with assurance that if we stumble, we will rise back up! This is illuminated when the following says when I sit in a place of darkness from confusion, life circumstances, loss, or grief, the Lord will be the light unto me. Light shows the way out of darkness!
